Hello again! For week 4 of my 20% project, I made bracelets. Throughout the week, I pondered on ideas from Pinterest which helped me plan what design to experiment with. In addition, I had to plan a tight schedule since we only had 33 minutes of work time. I had many accomplishments this week, and some of them include, the short time I was given I was able to make one bracelet. This may not seem like a lot, but getting all the beads, colors, and add-ins takes a long time to prepare. I had only some struggles, such as, once I completed the bracelet, finding the right size was an issue. Also, once completed, the bracelet tie was very difficult as I would drop the string, and all the beads would fall off. There would be no need for adjustments this week since I will be doing a new craft. Next week, I decided that I would be trying to make candles!

Hello again! For week 3 of my 20% project, I made resin crafts such as bookmarks. Throughout the week I experimented with trying to create different styles. I had many accomplishments this week. I looked up YouTube videos teaching me how to use resin. Additionally, I did some planning and research about my final piece. The last accomplishment of the week was I created lots of different kinds of designs and made around ten bookmarks. I did not have many struggles besides measuring how much resin to use and learning how to get smooth edges. Since my project is creating crafts, I will choose a new project for the next week. Some adjustments I had to make were choosing a craft to fit with the state testing schedule. My initial thought for the next week was to learn the process of candle making, since this is a lengthy process I’ve decided to move it for the following week. Instead, next week I will be taking the task of making bracelets.

For week 2 of my 20% project, I had many failures and some accomplishments. The only accomplishment I had this week was getting used to the app and creating only one animation! I had many struggles, such as the app not working, the struggle to find new ideas, and just working the app out was very difficult and frustrating. On Friday, when we got work time, I dreaded every moment. I was bored and just slumped in my seat throughout the whole period. And did absolutely nothing. I really wanted to succeed in this digital ad-making, but it got boring for me, and I was immediately wanted to switch subjects. This leads me to my adjustment. I have decided that I will be changing subject to Arts and Crafts! Some crafts I will be doing for the next four weeks are resin art, candle making, and bracelet making. For week three, I will be doing resin art. I’ve already have bought all of the essentials except one item that is coming on Wednesday. The next week, I will be searching for inspirational photos on Pinterest about candles. After I get all of my research done, I will be making candles. 

The room in my home that is my favorite is my bedroom. I love this room because everything is in the mid century modern aesthetic and is all decorated and designed by me. In my room I have white walls and 3 long windows that give’s me natural light. Even though I have natural light next to my bed on the night stand there are 2 gold lamps giving my light at night. My bed is black has a grey headboard, white sheets, white duvet cover and lots of accent pillows. My favorite part of my room is my closet because everything is organized in colors. In addition my closet is an area that I display souvenirs from place I’ve been. Some of these places include the Seattle Space Needle and the Chucullay Garden of Glass. In addition my room is the best cozy room to relax and be myself. Lastly my room is for myself and I can do anything I want such as read a book in peace, sleep, make bracelets and make candles. For these reasons this is why my bedroom is my favorite room.

During the summer break, I wish to do many fun and engaging activities. Some activities that I would love to participate in are seeing my cousins and going to this fun water park called Wild Rivers. One reason I would like to go to Wild Rivers is when I went last year, I had a blast. All of the rides were very fun and exciting. Another activity I would like to do is going to Laguna Beach with some friends to play in the water and enjoy the lovely environment. I would love to go on so many adventures and trips, but here are my top three destinations that I would enjoy going to. I would want to go to Seattle. One reason why Seattle is my first pick is most of my dad’s family lives there, so it would be really fun to see family that I rarely visit. Another area I would like to visit is Europe. I have many reasons why I would like to go to this country, but my main reason is I’ve never been out of the country before and this would be a very cool and educational trip. Also, I have heard from my parents that Europe is a beautiful place. In addition, I shall go to the most lively area known in California, Las Vegas. I’ve been to Las Vegas many times, and in my opinion, it is one of my favorite places to visit during the summer. I love how Las Vegas has so many museums everywhere you go, which makes the experience fun because you mainly walk around in Las Vegas. 

Hi, my name is Milo; for my 20% project, I will be attempting to make digital ads. This is my first week doing this project, and I accomplished a lot during this process. I looked up YouTube videos on how to work the app Procreate, which helped me very much as it gave me tips and tricks to get the app working smoothly. More accomplishments I achieved during this week are: I surprisingly got three animations done, which took me about 5 hours to complete; making these animations helped me get more comfortable and complete more complex designs. I only had some struggles, such as being unable to work the app and learning how to use the app. Even though I had some struggles, I eventually learned how to work around them. At the beginning of this 20% project, I thought that making ads or animations would be hard, so I set my golf to 10 for eight weeks just this week. I made three, so I will change my goal to 15-20 animations throughout the project. Next week, I plan to do two simple animations and start working on one of two final complex ads.

There are so many people i would live to invite but here are my top three my Cousin Zemar, my Mom and my brother Noah. We would go to this place called Cucina Enoteca located at the Irvine Spectrum.
For appetizer we would order the Truffle fries and the amazing focaccia bread. Then we would order a Hamburger with a side of fries for Zemar, a cheese pizza for Noah, a Steak pappardelle pasta for my Mom and for myself I would order a Caesar salad. We would not order any desserts! I picked to invite my cousin Zemar because we barely ever get to see him since he lives kinda far. Also I would love to invite Zemar because he is a very fun person to hang around with. I would invite my Mom because she has been there for me every day. In addition I love my mom and I love to enjoy time together with her. Furthermore I would invite my brother Noah because he is my other half and I can’t live without him. Another reason is he’s my twin. These are all the reasons why I picked my family friends not go with me.

In March, I read the book Finally Heard by Kelly Yang. Finally, Heard is a realistic fiction book about a 10-year-old girl named Lina Gao and how her family struggles financially. To earn some extra income, they own an online Bath bomb business that is sadly not turning out how they expected. Everyone in her family tries to collect as much money as possible to keep a roof over their heads. This changes when they discover they can use social media for marketing their business. None of them knew how to use it, so they doubted if they could ever become famous. One day, when Lina was at school, her Mom decided to make a YouTube video. When Lina discovered her mom’s video she was shocked by her mom’s ability to do this. Before they knew it, this video went viral and greatly impacted their business. Even though social media has helped them so much in many ways, some horrible factors has crushed Lina’s family’s confidence. 

I recommend this book because all the characters Lina encountered had many interesting and realistic emotions that made me want to know what was next. Also, I enjoyed this book because many plot twists made the book entertaining and engaging. In addition, the author, Kelly Yang, did a phenomenal job of explaining the settings in this book so well that I can keep a good image in my head. In conclusion, if you love drama, I highly recommend reading this book.

My favorite character is Lina. Lina is my favorite character because she is a determined, and she is a kind-hearted person who is willing to sacrifice anything for happiness for herself and everyone around her. . Also, Lina has grown as a character in many ways. She started as being very doubtful about becoming a full-time young influencer. Lina’s neighbor Rosa was also having difficulty paying her bills, so Lina decided to help her out and make a YouTube video about Rosa’s Tacos. A quote that describes her being both kind hearted and determined is, “Action, today we’re at Rosa’s Tacos. Rosa has been making tacos and proudly serving the community for the past 15 years. Her tocos are to die for, so come now!” Pg 123. This quote perfectly describes how she is equally kind-hearted and determined at the same time. Lina could be making videos for her business; she has great compassion for helping other people in her community who are also struggling. For these reasons, Lina is my absolute favorite character. 

My favorite quote from the book Finally Heard is when Lina finds out that there are at least 80 memes of people making fun of her on a social media platform called Discord. As she figures this out, she is supposed to be shooting a video to help out another business. Lina states, “I’m determined not to let what happened ruin my work.”Pg 206. I like this quote because it shows that even with so much mockery and bullying , Lina puts that aside and focuses on helping people and following her passion. In addition, this shows how unstoppable she can be, and nothing will tear her down.
